PETITS FRUITS

Berries and foliage compose a light, summery motif. Charles-Émile Egli, known as Carlègle, illustrator and engraver, signs this design with a particularly vivid decorative flair.

Charles Emile Egli dit Carlègle

(1877-1937)

Illustrator, printmaker, and painter, Charles Émile Egli, known as Carlègle, trained at the École des Arts Industriels in Geneva before pursuing his career in France. Working across satirical publications and the world of fashion, he developed a distinctive visual language defined by its clarity, economy of line, and graphic precision, qualities that translated naturally into decorative design.
A collaborator of André Groult from 1911 onwards, Carlègle distilled forms and subjects with remarkable elegance and expressive simplicity. His works are now held in the collections of the Centre Pompidou and the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
