ROSES

These stylized roses stand out against a delicate dotted background. Both simple and refined, the motif is the work of Albert André, a painter close to the Nabis, who championed the presence of art in all aspects of life.

Albert André

(1869-1954)

Painter, decorator, and illustrator, Albert André bridged fine and decorative arts. Trained at the Académie Julian, close to the Nabis and Renoir, he developed a color-driven language. His textile work in Lyon informed his decorative approach. His collaboration with Groult brought vibrancy to wallpaper. His works are held at Musée d’Orsay and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
