PARASOL
This chinoiserie motif reflects the fascination with the Far East that marked the second half of the eighteenth century. Inspired by the compositions of François Boucher or Jean Pillement, it evokes scenes of everyday life that fed the European decorative imagination of the time. Exoticism was very much in vogue. Louis XV even commissioned a painted chinoiserie décor at the Château de Choisy for Madame de Pompadour.
